Last night Marshall took to the Staples Center for Activision’s E3 show in support of DJ Hero 2. During his short set he brought out Rihanna to perform their blockbuster collab. Props to Rap Up for the good quality footage.

He plays with a backing track like everyone else does. He’s not outright lip synching. Porter isn’t on stage during this performance though so you’re correct there and you can see where he takes a breath and misses a word but the audio doesn’t stop. But his mic is live and he’s rapping live.. just using a backing track. I don’t recall if he used to do that back in the MMLP TES days. I know he did for AMT3 though.
