Now before go thinking there’s some sort of beef with Ms. Gomes and Rozay, there isn’t. It just so happens, Jessica ended up in a Rick Ross session because of a connection her friend had with Jay-Z and his peoples. According to her interview with GG, the Australian beauty recorded the drop for Rozay’s “Maybach Music” with Mr. Carter from Ross’ Trilla LP but had no idea it would be used for additional material. Below is an excerpt from the interview where she explains how the conjunction with her, Rozay and Jay-Z unfolded.

So how does one find herself in Rick Ross’ studio?

(Laughs). Well, we were just all friends. I was friends of friends with Jay. We were all hanging out and they were just like, ‘Wow, we love your accent. We love your voice. Why don’t you say something and we’ll record it.’ That was seriously it.

Who else was in the studio?

Just a group of friends. A friend of Jay’s and then I was a friend of Jay’s friend. I don’t know Rick Ross. We’re not friends. I know of Jay. I’ve shot his Rocawear campaign before. But we’re not down friends, at all. We’re just acquaintances.

Man, if “D.O.A.” wasn’t a moment in hip-hop. SHIT. I remember vividly where I was that night: This was during my BET days and I was covering an event where Kid Cudi was performing I believe. It was down at the Chelsea Piers. Twitter was buzzing with anticipation of what the record would sound like. Flex was debuting the single so you KNOW it was about to be one of those experiences. I remember I was inside the venue and I was tweeting made up lyrics that could pass for Jay lines. I was bored and I actually had people tweeting me “Yo, you got it?” Shit was funny as fuck. Anyway, when I got word it was showtime, I ran to my car and just soaked it all in. Man it was amazing. The beat. The lyrics. The delivery. Flex yelling, growling, dropping bombs…man it was a MOVIE lol. I remember walking back inside the venue just shaking my head like “Yo, did Hov really say that shit?” Man. Oh, after the event my car was towed. SMH lol.

Anyway, earlier today Complex released their mega pow wow with No I.D. about 40 classic records he’s produced over the years. The “D.O.A.” was one of my favorites so I decided to dedicate a post to it, hence the story of me first hearing it. An excerpt from the story can be found below as well as a link to the post over at Complex.

I hopped on a plane to leave Hawaii and while I was in the air, Funkmaster Flex premiered it on HOT 97–ran it back, dropped bombs on it and everything. I came off the plane to so many text and emails. That was one of my favorite hip-hop moments I’ve been involved in in my life. It was priceless.

Looks like Take Care has taken its talents to November. The OVO head honcho just announced his sophomore project Take Care is now slated for a November 15th release date. The new found sweater connoisssuer reveals sample clearances for the reason of the projects delay. Drake breaks down the situation below via his OVO Blog.

The new date for Take Care is November 15th, 2011. I managed to create this album in my hometown of Toronto and the thoughts and stories I wanted to get across just became so clear. It truly felt like when I was here 3 years ago making So Far Gone. So I have completed 19 songs (17 on physical and 2 on bonus), and have run into a roadblock of clearing 3 samples in time to make the October 24th date. My options were to take the songs off and make the birthday release happen, or to take an extra couple weeks to get the paper work right and give you the album they way I NEED you to hear it. The choice was clear as day for me. November 15th you will get Take Care the exact way I created it with no trimmings. This music means too much to me to get attached to dates and I do apologize for the delay but I promise that it is only for the benefit of our experience together. Club Paradise Tour will also be moved to when students are back from the Christmas/New Year break so that I can get to more schools. New dates will be released in the next week…see you all soon.
